Privacy Policy
What Eden collects, why, who helps run it, and what you can do about it.
What Eden collects
Only what Eden needs to work for you, and what you choose to add.
- Your account
- Your name (or what you’d like to be called), email, country, province or state, date of birth (to check you’re old enough), language and how Eden looks for you. Your password is stored only as a secure hash, so no one at Eden can read it.
- Why you came
- The goals you pick when you join and anything you write or say about what you’re hoping for. Speaking uses your browser’s own dictation (Google’s in Chrome, Apple’s in Safari); Eden receives only the text.
- Your money
- Accounts you connect through Plaid, read-only: balances, transactions and account details. Statements you upload. Bills, budgets, goals and plans you add. Investments you link in Solace.
- Raya
- Your conversations with her, files you share with her, and what she remembers about you between conversations.
- Trace
- The messages you leave for your people, who they are and how to reach them. Trace has its own section below.
- Sharing you choose
- What you share with a household or a circle, and the people you invite.
- Payments
- Your plan and billing status. Card details go to Stripe and never reach Eden.
- Security
- Sign-in history, devices, passkeys (Eden keeps only the public half), and the IP address you connect from, to keep your account safe.
- Help and feedback
- What you send us when you ask for help or tell us what you think.
- How Eden gets used
- Which parts of Eden you open and when, never what’s in them, and crash reports when something breaks on your device. Both stay with Eden, and you can turn either off in Settings → Privacy.
How Eden uses it
- To run Eden
- Showing your money in one place, what’s safe to spend, bills that are coming and whether they’re covered, your goals and how they’re going.
- For Raya
- So she can answer about your actual situation, not money in general.
- To keep you safe
- Checking sign-ins, spotting fraud and protecting your account.
- To bill you
- For the plan you choose.
- To reach you
- Sign-up codes, security notices, and reminders you can turn off in Settings.
- To make Raya better
- Eden’s team may read your Raya chats to develop and improve her, including preparing training data. They are not sent to AI providers for training. You can turn this off at any time in Settings.
Eden doesn’t sell your information and doesn’t show you ads.
Raya and AI
Raya can read everything you keep in Eden except Trace, so she can answer from your whole picture: your accounts, spending, bills, goals, investments, files and what you’ve told her. She keeps notes on what matters to you, so you don’t have to repeat yourself.
Eden’s AI provider is Google Cloud’s Vertex AI. Requests are processed in Google’s US region. Google acts as Eden’s service provider and doesn’t use Eden’s requests to train its models. Eden has turned off prompt caching, so requests aren’t kept to speed up similar ones later.
Names follow one rule. The name of a well-known business you pay (a streaming service, a phone company) can reach the AI provider, as information and never as instructions. The names of people you pay or are paid by, account numbers, the raw wording on your statements and the names you give your accounts and bills never do; the provider sees what they are instead, like “a housing bill” or “a savings account”.
Files you give Raya are checked for viruses and rebuilt to keep only what they show; pictures and scans are then read by the same AI. Files showing a full card number, a passport, a driver’s licence, a SIN or Social Security number, or a password are refused and not kept, so don’t share them.
For general questions Raya may search the public web; the search provider receives the search, not your information. Each Sunday Raya writes up your week and the one ahead in its own chat; you can turn this off in Settings.
When you send feedback, AI sorts it to the right team, with your email, phone number and name taken out. If Eden’s main AI is unavailable, a backup model does this, and it may process that feedback outside the United States.
Raya can be wrong. She can share views on investments, including specific ones, as general information to think with, not as advice from a licensed adviser. Check important decisions with a qualified professional.
Trace
No AI reads Trace. Raya can’t open, search or summarize what you leave there. Eden keeps Trace encrypted and holds its keys so it can reach the people you chose when the time comes; no staff tool can open it, and every opening is logged. A court order could still reach it.
How long Eden keeps it
For as long as your account is open. If your free days end without a plan, Eden pauses and keeps everything, so paying picks up where you left off.
When you close your account, Eden deletes your information. A few records stay as the law requires: billing and tax records for six years, proof of your request for two years, and backups for up to 30 days until they’re overwritten. Messages in your Trace are deleted and never delivered. Something already shared with a person you chose can’t be recalled.
Keeping it safe
Your information is encrypted in transit and at rest. You can sign in with a passkey and add a second step. Staff access is limited to what a task needs and is logged.
Your choices
- See and correct
- Ask what Eden holds about you, and fix anything wrong.
- Take it with you
- Download a readable copy, or a complete data file, from Settings → Privacy.
- Change your mind
- Unlink a bank, ask Raya to forget what she remembers, delete chats and files, stop chats being read to improve Raya, or turn off reminders, at any time, even while Eden is paused.
- Leave
- Close your account from Settings and your information is deleted as described above.
Eden follows Canada’s privacy law, Quebec’s where it applies, and the law where you live. If you’re not satisfied with how Eden handles a concern, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
For adults
Eden is for adults: 18, or 19 where that’s the age of majority. Eden doesn’t knowingly collect information from anyone younger.
Changes and questions
If this policy changes in a way that matters, Eden will tell you in the app before it takes effect. For questions or requests, use Help in the app or Settings → Privacy.
